Varied bath toy styles, features enrich selection

Recent bath toy designs boast novelty aspects, and improved visual appeal and balance.

China suppliers of bath toys are beefing up R&D initiatives to provide more innovative and value-added models.

Manufacturers are enhancing product features. The latest items incorporate flashing LEDs or musical ICs, which are turned on by a button.

Others may be squeezed or sensor-activated. Bath toys under the first classification are usually made of soft materials such as PVC. Meanwhile, models with sensors are able to respond to skin or liquid. The latter is often used to switch on LEDs.

Some products are also capable of storing lotion or shampoo. Others can hold and squirt water, or squeak when pinched. Releases that move while immersed are available as well.

The bath toys come in a range of designs, most of which are animal-shaped. Ducks, swans, elephants and aquatic creatures such as starfish, dolphins, seals and turtles are the best-sellers.

Novelty styles may be decorated with neckties, suits or eyeglasses. Products patterned after clients’ mascots are also popular. Vivid colors, including red, green, yellow and blue, are typically utilized for the line. Several releases employ transparent PVC.

Apart from appearance, factories consider the model’s structure. Among the floating toys, duck variants are widely manufactured as their shape is naturally more buoyant given the wide bottom and short neck.

In comparison, swan versions from Richforth Electronics Co. must be made with a thicker base to compensate for the longer neck and help lower the center of gravity.
